Tin Hau Festival
23 May

Rooted in Hong Kong’s rich maritime heritage, the Tin Hau Festival honours Tin Hau, the Goddess of the Sea and revered patron saint of fishermen. Across the city, Tin Hau Temples come alive with vibrant celebrations featuring music, lion dances, and martial arts displays.
The largest festival takes place in Yuen Long, where a spectacular three-hour parade sets off from Fung Cheung Road at 10am, showcasing 30 beautifully decorated fa pau (floral floats), dragon and lion dances, and cultural performances. In the afternoon, the floats are raffled off at Yuen Long Stadium, with winners claiming the auspicious wreaths.
Another highlight is the Tin Hau Festival in Sai Kung, home to the oldest and largest Tin Hau Temple at Joss House Bay. Thousands attend, and for one day only, the First Ferry operates a special service from North Point Pier, making for a truly scenic journey.
The islands of Cheung Chau, Peng Chau, Lamma, and Tsing Yi also host lively celebrations, reflecting their deep fishing traditions.
