Sunday brunches in Hong Kong have an almost legendary status. And deservedly so! But we think on any day it’s one of the best ways to spend time with family or friends, whether you choose a champagne brunch or just focus on the food. (There are a few all-you-can-eat buffets too). In these reviews of some of the best weekend brunch places in Hong Kong, there’s something for everyone – global cuisines, scenic views, free-flow deals and extras for kids. Just remember to bring an empty stomach!
Weekend brunch at Tango
We gave the $298 weekend brunch a spin at Tango recently, and this Argentinian fiesta was an absolute joy. Seated in the lovely Lan Kwai Fong dining room, we kicked off our $188 per person free-flow wine and cocktails, and only had to select a main and side.
The sharing starters soon arrived – Argentinian chorizo, poached salmon salad, homemade empanadas (beef, chicken, ham or spinach) and roasted pumpkin with onion and feta. Wonderful variety and all with an assortment of dipping sauces.
From the six scintillating mains we opted for roast chicken with aji verde and grilled lemon, and the ribeye (add $108). Both were a total delight. No wonder we were eyeing up the other choices for next time; skirt steak, fish of the day, and a burrata and pesto pasta. Not to mention the almighty Argentinian meat platter, El Plato (add $328).

For the sides, we opted for baked chimichurri Portobello mushroom, plump and full of flavour, and a serve of the magical and crispy Thyme Skinny Fries.
By this time, it was a good thing the dessert platter was for sharing! The Flan Casero (strawberries and cream), refreshing ice cream and sorbets, and crispy churros with dulce de leche were all superb.
The Tango weekend brunch is great value in every sense. Put it this way: dinner will not be required after you sample this feast!
These amazing brunches are available weekends and public holidays, from 11.30am to 3.30pm. Eating here is truly a little slice of Buenos Aires heaven… muy bueno Tango!

Weekend brunch at Bushra
Famed for its authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and stunning harbour views, Bushra gave us high hopes for a fab brunch. Things kicked off with a huge mezze platter piled high with creamy hummus, crispy falafel, Lebanese cheese rolls, mixed pickles, baba ghanoush (possibly the best in HK!). We scooped everything up with warm homemade pitta bread. Two additional dishes, Batata Harra, delicious crispy cubes of potato seasoned with garlic and coriander, and Sujuk, a beef sausage served in a rich tomato sauce, made for a perfect start.
Diners can then choose a main course. Our succulent Arabic Seabream came on a bed of lentils and chickpeas, while the Bayd Bi Awarma, a traditional Lebanese brunch dish of slow-cooked lamb mince with a couple of fried eggs, was also delicious.
The food at Bushra is superb and the weekend brunch is very good value at $248 per person with two hours free-flow for an extra $198. To finish, we couldn’t resist a portion of mixed baklava ($46) – sweet, nutty and wonderful.
Available weekends and public holidays, 12pm to 3pm.

All-you-can-eat buffet at BACI Trattoria and Bar
We arrived ravenous in anticipation of BACI’s All-YouCan-Eat Weekend Brunch Buffet. First up was a visit (or two) to sample the antipasti, salads, freshly baked bread and cold cuts. We could have grazed there all afternoon! Well, that was until we heard the calling of the perfectly roasted meat carvery, the fresh seafood selection, and the hot station with Italian favourites.
After a much-needed break, it was time to try BACI’s famed pizzas and pastas. There are five of each to choose from, all cooked freshly to order. We loved the pepperoni pizza – perfectly charred crust, with just the right amount of sauce, oozy mozzarella and salty pepperoni. Just when we thought defeat was in sight, we managed a trip to the decadent dessert table. A rich and creamy tiramisu proved the perfect finale to our delicious Italian feast.
Priced at $528 for adults and $328 for children, this is a terrific weekend brunch. You can also add on a two-hour free-flow from $268 per person and non-alcoholic free-flow from $118 for the ideal weekend afternoon. The BACI brunch runs from 12pm to 3pm.

All-you-can-eat brunch at Cantina
Cantina has brought back its celebrated crowdpleaser – an all-you-can-eat weekend brunch “exploring Italy one bite at a time”. It features 20 vibrant Venetian cicchetti (small plates), signature mains and tiramisu cones, all for just $488 per person. There’s also a generous free-flow package for $200 for two hours – and our glasses were never ever close to being empty!
Attentive staff scurried around the majestic dining room, bringing us a constant stream of irresistible Italian delights. The Bruschetta Feast had five crunchy variations, all superb, while the Affettati Feast showcased five fabulous cold cuts.
We ticked boxes on the menu and more Italian favourites soon arrived. Highlights included sausages in tomato sauce, arrosticini (chicken skewers with peppers), roast beef with rocket, and a tomato tart. The pick of the bunch? Eggplant parmigiana croquettes!
Then, yet another round arrived before the mains. We loved the Burrata e Tomato, along with a deeply rich and earthy mushroom soup, and a robust Rigatoni all’Amatriciana.
For our main to share, we chose the crispy lasagna (add $158). It’s the chef’s mother’s recipe and served in a shallower dish to showcase the textures and delights of bolognese, béchamel and a crispy cheesy top.
The innovative tiramisu cones are also lots of fun. We enjoyed the classic variety, and the fragrant pistachio, but the sinfully-good hazelnut stole the show. Other flavours include Hong Kong-inspired milk tea, black sesame and mandarin.
Cantina is a treat from start to finish – and in a beautiful setting. There’s good news for ladies, too, who can enjoy a complimentary one-hour Prosecco free-flow!
The Cicchetti Brunch is available Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. It runs from 11am to 3.30pm.

O’Thai & The Bayside – East meets West brunches in Hong Kong
These two restaurants share a space on the Hung Hom waterfront, and they’ve now joined forces to create an East meets West brunch menu that’s sure to please everyone. This much was clear from all the families there on the day of our visit. Now the weather is cooler, the stunning terrace overlooking the harbour is also a perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch.
This is a six-course menu, where each diner chooses two dishes from a selection of cold appetisers – from Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon to Avocado Mango Rice Paper Rolls, all ideal for sharing. From the hot appetisers, again, it’s two dishes each. The Chicken Satay with a peanut dipping sauce particularly hit the spot! For mains, we enjoyed the Thai Prawn Egg Curry served with crunchy garlic bread to mop up the sauce, and a tasty Penne Wagyu Bolognese. And we finished with a slice of cheesecake and mixed berry coulis.
The food is pretty good, the portions are generous, and it’s well-priced at $238 per person. It’s a great value brunch with plenty of options to keep all the family happy. Available every weekend 12pm to 2.30pm.
