Old Central is a new photobook released by Master Creative Publishing that takes readers back to early-to-mid-20th-century Central Hong Kong, revealing a golden age when the city was a true crossroads of East and West.
The meticulously curated collection contains over one hundred rare historical photographs that feature Victorian-style arcades, bustling street markets and tranquil waterfronts, reflecting the rhythm of old Hong Kong life.
The book also pays special tribute to HK’s eminent postcard collector, Cheung Shun-Kwong, who has spent 30 years dedicated to preserving stamps, documents, tickets, postcards and other historical artifacts, in order to safeguard precious memories of the city.
EastPro Gallery held an exhibition from 6 to 14 September to mark the release of the book. You can get an idea of Old Central’s incredible imagery from the photos shown above. You can also purchase a copy of the book via the gallery’s online shop.
