The internationally acclaimed Xi’an Acrobatic Troupe will present the new adaptation of acrobatic ballet Swan Lake from August 8 to 10 at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium. This beloved classic has been reimagined by blending the elegance of Western ballet with the thrill of Chinese acrobatics, offering audiences a fresh and breathtaking theatrical experience.
Founded in 2019, the Xi’an Acrobatic Troupe features performers and productions that have received prestigious international accolades, including the Golden Clown Award in Monaco — the highest honor in the acrobatics world. The troupe’s members have performed for heads of state and global dignitaries.
With over 20 spectacular acrobatic acts showcasing the performers’ extraordinary skills — from contortionists transforming into eagles and snakes, to frogs flipping through the air — graceful swans soar on aerial hoops, while the prince and his sailor companions brave stormy waves on the Russian barre, executing daring flips and breathtaking balances. This fusion of Chinese acrobatics and Western ballet promises a visually stunning and unforgettable experience for all.
Performance Synopsis:
To find his beloved princess, the prince journeys far to Chang’an, only to discover she has been cursed by the Black Eagle King and transformed into a swan. A fierce battle between good and evil unfolds — can the princess break free and reclaim her true form?
