JUDIT GรL is one of our Singapore-based Expat Living colleagues, and on a recent visit to the team here, she spent a few nights at The Hari Hong Kong. Hereโs her verdict!
Opened in December 2020 by the Harilela Group, this hotel is like an oasis in the heart of Wan Chai. Located within walking distance from Causeway Bay MTR, the stylish and modern design of the 30-storey boutique hotel easily stands out.
While the concierge is located on street level, check-in takes place on the second floor. Stepping into the lobby, the space opens into an elegant but relaxed sitting area filled with artworks, books and warm colours. Itโs an ideal place to spend a couple of hours over a drink, catching up with colleagues or friends.
Thereโs a strong art focus here; I learnt from the front office staff that the displayed works are rotated regularly. Also, for the third consecutive year, The Hari Art Prize is currently taking place, inviting local artists to submit their work to celebrate the diverse local art scene and inspire the next generation of artists.
Rooms and design at this Wan Chai hotel
The Hari is home to 210 guest rooms including three signature rooftop suites. For my stay, Iโd booked a 30-square-metre premium corner room.
The first thing I always check out on a hotel stay is the view. In this instance, the wall-to-wall window opened to a stunning panoramic view facing The Peak, and there was a comfortable banquette sofa by the window to laze about, just next to the coffee/ tea station. All the rooms are soundproofed, so you barely hear any noise coming from the street.
The anteroom, separated by a glass door from the bedroom, houses the vanity, a walk-in rainforest shower bathroom, and plenty of storage space.
Food and drinks at The Hari
Breakfast is a semi-buffet and ร la carte affair, served at Lucciola Restaurant. It might not be a large spread, but I found there was enough selection, and the food was fresh and of high quality. You can enjoy a main dish (I loved the eggs benedict), pastries, spreads, fruits, cereals, barista coffee, smoothies and juices to prepare you for the day without overeating.
The restaurant also offers a great set lunch menu โ the signature tiramisu is something you shouldnโt miss.
For a different dining experience, The Hariโs Japanese restaurant Zoku serves contemporary Japanese cuisine along with sakes and fine wines, and it has a fantastic terrace bar with lush greenery.
Facilities and event spaces
For the active traveller, thereโs a fully equipped 24/7 fitness centre with the state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, as well as an outdoor gym area with boxing and yoga activities.
For events and meetings, the stylish alfresco terraces at both Zoku and Lucciola Restaurant & Bar are available for private hire and are the perfect venues for networking or social events in Hong Kong. Elsewhere, located adjacent to the Lounge is The Boardroom, a deluxe private meeting space ideal for intimate dinners or corporate boardroom conferences for up to 10 guests.
What I loved about The Hari Hong Kong:
- Excellent service
- Well-equipped room and good shower
- The lobby (definitely one of my favourites with its relaxed atmosphere)
