Star trombonist Frederic Belli makes HK debut
22 April - 25 April
German trombone virtuoso Frederic Belli – currently Principal Trombone of the SWR Symphony Orchestra – makes his Hong Kong debut this April with Hong Kong Sinfonietta, bringing a fresh spotlight to the expressive power of brass.
The visit includes two contrasting programmes. On 22 April, Belli joins the orchestra’s brass musicians for an all-brass chamber concert featuring works by Bruckner, Ewald and Chris Hazell, among others. Then on 25 April, he takes centre stage as soloist in two trombone concertos by Ferdinand David and Toru Takemitsu, performed with the orchestra under Music Director Emeritus Yip Wing-sie. The programme also includes Respighi’s The Birds and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite.
