PMQ Taste Library’s All-New Guest Curator
1 July, 2026 - 31 March, 2027
PMQ has launched the newly reimagined Guest Curator Project, a year-long cultural initiative that transforms the PMQ Taste Library – the first library and creative hub dedicated to Hong Kong food culture – into a dynamic platform for creativity, storytelling and community engagement. The project invites three local creative forces to reimagine the library through distinct perspectives, exploring the intersections of culinary arts, lifestyle, and reading.
The inaugural chapter, Treasured Recipes, co-curated with Word by Word Collective, opened on 3 July. This exhibition celebrates the cultural significance of cookbooks and recipe archives through a selection of rare and out-of-print international cookbooks, alongside previously unseen private recipe collections from pioneering HK culinary figures and celebrity chefs. Together, these materials offer visitors a glimpse into the personal histories, traditions, and creative practices that have shaped the city’s food culture.
Complementing the exhibition is a programme of public events designed to deepen audience engagement. Highlights include live recreations of historic recipes, curator-led guided tours, and a special Book Party celebrating the stories and communities behind culinary publishing.
At the same time, visitors can also explore PICTURE BⓄⓞⓄⓞⓄKS at the adjacent PMQ Picture Book Library. Curated by Benny Lau, the exhibition examines the physical language of picture books, highlighting the expressive qualities of paper textures, formats, bindings and page sequencing to reveal how book design shapes the reading experience.
