THE RIDDLER
On a game show, a contestant made it through to the final million-dollar round. The show host said to the contestant: “With a million dollars up for grabs, here is your challenge: In just 90 seconds, name 100 words that do not contain the letter “a”. Your time starts… now!”
Not only did the contestant win the million dollars, but she did so with almost 30 seconds left on the clock. How?
Answer:
The contestant just counted from 1 to 100. The letter “a” doesn’t appear in any of those numbers. In fact, it doesn’t make an appearance until the number 1,000 (“one thousand”).
