We meet the French director of EstheClinic Hong Kong and go behind the scenes of the popular beauty clinic. Plus, a look at a recent treatment addition – a Microneedling & Peel Duo!
SOLÈNE VERROT has a master’s in international law and spent two years in a major advertising firm. But then the beauty industry beckoned – first through her family connections, and then on an exciting business recce to Hong Kong.
“My husband’s cousin Manon is the founder of EstheClinic as it is today, though it was originally created by her father. Manon runs the brand in France, and she launched the first Singapore clinic in 2015.”
That successful Singapore expansion led the company to look for other opportunities in Asia. In 2018, Solène and her husband paid an exploratory visit to Hong Kong.
They didn’t expect to fall so hard for the place. “From the very first moment, we were hooked – the energy, the mix of cultures, the incredible pace of life paired with the most stunning nature right at your doorstep. It felt like discovering a whole new world!”
Getting started
The pair also saw an amazing opportunity to introduce EstheClinic to Hong Kong. In August 2019, the first branch opened in Central.
Solène describes the journey to establishing the arm of the business here as equal parts exciting and challenging. (“That’s entrepreneurship, right?” she says.) One big speed bump was the emergence of COVID not long after the Hong Kong launch. Yet she stayed resilient, always looking for the next opportunity where others might only see obstacles.
“I think it’s a mindset: you either let challenges define you or you use them as fuel,” says Solène. “And honestly, none of it would have been possible without the people around me. Our team is our greatest strength – we’ve had the same core group since we opened, with new joiners who come and stay, and that says everything. We overcame challenges because we surrounded ourselves with good people who believe in what we’re building together.”
EstheClinic in Hong Kong today
There are now three locations for EstheClinic in Hong Kong, all in premium spots in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and Sai Ying Pun. “We choose our locations and buildings very carefully,” says Solène. “The environment really matters to us. My husband and I focus entirely on the Hong Kong market, and we share our insights with the family on how to best adapt to the local clientele while always maintaining the same standards and promises that clients experience in France and Singapore. It’s a collaboration rooted in shared values.”
Treatments at EstheClinic cover virtually every aesthetic concern for both men and women: face and body, permanent hair removal, and even hair-loss solutions. Technology is a key pillar, too, with only the highest-grade devices used in the clinics. These are chosen to provide the ideal pain-free alternative to invasive surgery, and they’re utilised by a team that follows in-house protocols with precision.
“The aim is for everyone who walks through the doors to feel their absolute best in their own skin,” says Solène. “It’s about empowerment, confidence and feeling good from the inside out. We’re not here to change who you are; we’re here to help you feel like the best version of yourself.”
Personalised treatments
Going hand in hand with this is a strong focus on the individual. “We want to understand each person’s concerns, talk to them honestly about what we can achieve, and follow up to make sure they’re happy with their results.”
This is why the EstheClinic experience begins with a free initial consultation: to listen to concerns and discuss needs and expectations. A personalised treatment programme is then prepared after the first appointment, and the team ensures that it’s carried out to the letter to achieve the best possible results.
Client feedback suggests that the approach is working, too, with online reviews highlighting the quality of staff, range of treatments, and genuine level of care.
Home away from home
Solène is originally from Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France, and she says there is a beautiful “dolce vita” rhythm to life there that’s hard to find in Hong Kong – especially in summer, when the sun doesn’t set until nearly 10pm and dinner stretches on for hours with family and friends. “No one’s in a rush, everyone’s laughing, the wine is flowing.”
But she only has praise for her adopted home, too. “Hong Kong gives me so much else, so I would say it’s a fair trade. I love everything that HK does best: incredible restaurants, beautiful nature just minutes from the city, and the sea always within reach. I’m a big fan of Reformer Pilates, I love hiking, wake surfing, and of course great food and drinks. This city makes it so easy to find balance, and I feel lucky to call it home.”
Treatment focus – Skin Renewal Advanced Microneedling & Peel Duo
“This is a recent addition to EstheClinic,” says Solène, “and it combines two powerful techniques in a single session. It starts with a professional-grade chemical peel that accelerates cell turnover and works on uneven texture, pigmentation and dullness, giving the skin a fresh, clean canvas. This is followed by microneedling, which stimulates the skin at a deeper level to activate your own natural collagen and elastin production, promoting renewal from within.”
What it can treat
Fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scars and other scarring, hyperpigmentation or dark spots, uneven skin tone, reduced skin elasticity, stretch marks.
How long it takes
For the face, 40 minutes; for the face and neck, 50 minutes.
What it costs
EstheClinic will suggest the best personalised packages to clients after a free consultation at one of the branches.
Treatment steps
- Thorough pre-cleansing of treatment area to effectively remove makeup, impurities and surface debris.
- Peel application. First, stabilising repair cream is applied to cover and protect any hot zones. Then, the peel is applied after assessment of the skin and selection of the right peel for the skin condition and concern.
- Neutraliser. (This is left on for 8 to 10 minutes, depending on skin sensitivity.)
- Gentle wipe of treatment area.
- Microneedling
Suggested frequency
For normal or scar-prone skin: every 4 weeks. For thin or sensitive skin: every 4 to 6 weeks
Note: Depending on your skin’s condition, the treatment shouldn’t be combined with other aesthetic treatments for 2 to 4 weeks.
According to Solène, the results of the combined treatment are beautiful – smoother, brighter, more youthful-looking skin with improved tone and firmness. “It’s ideal for fine lines, acne scarring, enlarged pores, or simply for anyone wanting that radiant, refreshed glow.”
