Honeypot began in Singapore in 2005. What was the original vision?
The vision was simple: we believed waxing could be different. We’d experienced poor wax jobs that were rushed, clinical and extremely painful, and we knew that being treated well and feeling blissful could go hand in hand with a great wax. So we started with the wax itself – working with certified chemists in Australia to develop a formula that would grip hair, not skin. We didn’t stop there; the training, the hygiene protocols, the environment and the vibe – everything had to work together. The result is an experience that feels calm, comfortable and as close to painless as possible. That’s what we’ve spent nearly two decades refining.
What makes your wax different from what other Hong Kong salons use?
We use a hard wax that was developed exclusively for us by certified chemists in Australia. It’s designed to shrink-wrap around the hair rather than adhere to the skin, which makes it gentler and more comfortable – especially on sensitive areas. We also infuse it with a cherry scent. It’s a small detail, but it transforms the experience. Clients often tell us it smells like a dessert. It makes the whole process feel less clinical and more blissful.
Let’s talk about hygiene. What does it actually mean at Honeypot?
It means no shortcuts. Every spatula is brand new, used once, and thrown away. We never double-dip – that’s non-negotiable. Therapists wear fresh gloves for every client. The bed is covered with fresh paper. It’s the standard you’d expect from a medical clinic, applied to a beauty treatment. We don’t talk about it much because we believe it should be the baseline, not a selling point. But we also know that not every waxing salon in Hong Kong operates this way, and clients deserve to know what to look for.
Your therapists are known as “Honeypot Kitties”. What does it take to become one?
Every Kitty undergoes rigorous in-house training. It’s a structured programme that covers technique, skin types, client care and hygiene protocols. They’re trained to handle everything from first-timers to clients with sensitive skin, and they’re experienced in pregnancy-friendly techniques including a comfortable side-lying position that avoids any pressure on the belly. It’s a detail, but it matters. Clients notice when you’ve thought about their specific needs.
You’ve won multiple consecutive awards over the last 10 years and beyond. What does this recognition mean to you?
It means consistency. Anyone can have a good year; ten years in a row means you’ve built something that works – a team, a culture, a set of standards that don’t slip. It’s also a reminder that we can’t get complacent. Every client who walks through the door is a chance to prove that the award still means something.
You’ve just opened a new boutique in Causeway Bay, at Soundwill Plaza. Tell us about the space.
The new Causeway Bay boutique at Soundwill Plaza reflects the same values that have driven Honeypot since 2005 – clarity, comfort and an uncompromising attention to detail. The new branch is a modern yet intimate space, with private treatment rooms, soft lighting and a calming atmosphere. Located on Russell Street, directly opposite Times Square, it’s incredibly easy to find – just one minute from Causeway Bay MTR Station, you don’t have to hunt for us.
Our Central boutique is also very convenient. It’s at The Loop on Wellington Street, tucked between SOHO and Lan Kwai Fong, a five-minute walk from Central MTR Station, Exit D2.
What are your most popular or signature hair removal treatments?
Our Hollywood wax is still a signature. You’ll get a completely smooth, bright finish immediately. More recently, Brazilian laser hair removal has been gaining popularity too. It takes about eight sessions, then no more monthly upkeep so it’s perfect for busy schedules. They’re different treatments with the same goal – for a client to feel comfortable in their own skin.
