From one of the worlds best cocktail bars, to cool rooftop bars with fab views and sports bars for watching the football or rugby, there’s no end of great places to go for a drink in Hong Kong. Whether you’re single and wanting to meet people, just fancy a glass of wine after work, or are keen to try a mixologist’s latest creation, here’s a list of some of the best bars in Hong Kong.
#1 Cocktail bars in Hong Kong
Bar Leone – best bar in Asia!
It’s no mean feat to be ranked number two in the list of the World’s 50 Best Bars (and number one in Asia, twice!), but that’s what Bar Leone has achieved since opening in 2023. The vibe here is Italian simplicity, and the theme is “cocktail popolari” – “cocktails for the people”. The owners say the secret to their success is great hospitality and getting people together. Serving an amazing Filthy Martini with a home-smoked olive brine helps!

Montana cocktail bar in Central
Speaking of Bar Leone, founder Lorenzo Antinori has joined forces with another big name on the World’s Best Bars list, Simone Caporale (of Barcelona’s beloved Sips). Together, they’ve opened Montana, a black-and-white-tiled bar that pays homage to Cuba’s cocktail culture of half a century ago. You can opt for a classic daiquiri, of course, though we’re eyeing off the El Presidente. It combines rum, quince vermouth and dulce de leche for sweetness.

Argo – stylish bar with fab views
The floor-to-ceiling windows (and views) will be the first thing you notice in this Four Seasons bar, followed by a central column clad in striking glass cylinders. But your attention will soon be drawn to the fabulous, innovative cocktails. The Grapefruit & Cacao 20 Century, for example, takes Monkey 47 dry gin and adds Ovaltine, grapefruit cordial, amaro and champagne. There’s an extensive wine list too, and with fancy bites such as duck tacos and dashi French toast, and you can see why it makes all those “best bar” lists!

Coa – Mexican-themed cocktail bar
Opened in 2017, this award-winning bar is inspired by Mexico, from the name that derives from the blade used for harvesting agave, to the low-key design of rustic wood, brick and concrete elements. Speaking of agave, the plant features heavily in the cocktail list, including in some amazing tequila and mezcal concoctions. A good place to start is the Ancho Highball, with Tequila blanco, salted plum, ancho chile and guava soda.

Gossip Cocktail Club
The latest goss is that Gossip – the sister cocktail club of Socio – is the place to be if you love an Asian-inspired cocktail washed down with some R&B and hip-hop tunes. The menu takes cues from traditional Asian masks, and you can expect to find ingredients like Sichuan pepper, yuzu kosho, kaffir lime, Korean gochujang and more in your drinks.
