Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival 2026
17 September @ 6:30 pm - 25 September @ 11:00 pm
The Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival in Hong Kong brings together residents and visitors to celebrate one of the most cherished festivals in Chinese culture, the Mid-Autumn Festival. Organised as part of the Chinese Culture Festival, the event aims to encourage everyone to experience traditional customs, arts and festive activities in a lively public setting.
Celebrations will include colourful lantern displays, cultural performances and hands-on activities that highlight traditional craftsmanship. One key highlight is the chance for visitors to learn about traditional lantern-making, an important part of Chinese cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations.
The event will take place at two locations. A Mid-Autumn Lighting Installation will be displayed at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza from 17 September to 11 October 2026. The main Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival will be held at Victoria Park from 19 to 27 September. Lanterns will be illuminated daily from 6.30pm to 11pm, with extended hours until midnight on 25 September. Admission is free to the public.
