November saw the launch of the WestK Ferry in Hong Kong. The service connects Central with the West Kowloon Cultural District – that means easy access to the precinct’s museums, theatres and other entertainment options. Here are all the deets!
6 things to know about the WestK Ferry
#1 The WestK Ferry features a design inspired by ocean waves. It was created in collaboration with students from the Hong Kong Design Institute.
#2 The service runs back and forth between the newly constructed WestK Quay (right near M+) and Central Pier No. 9. It provides a direct and scenic journey across Victoria Harbour in around eight minutes.
#3 You can jump aboard the WestK Ferry seven days a week (8am to 10pm, Monday to Friday, and to 11pm on weekends and public holidays). It departs from each side every 30 minutes. A single-journey ticket costs $20; concession tickets are $10. A monthly pass is available for $560 for unlimited rides.
#4 The boat is equipped with air conditioned cabins and is both bicycle- and pet-friendly. (Tickets for bikes and pets are the same as for adults: $20 each.)
#5 There’s obviously a host of food and-beverage options on the Central side, but new outlets are also opening along WestK Quay. Keep an eye out for HK style street snacks, boat noodles, vegetarian dishes, Japanese and Western offerings, and more.
#6 Got your own boat? The quay has opened for private vessels to use for pick-up and drop-off (from 1 December 2025). You first need to register your vessel via the WestK website (westk.hk). You can then reserve the date and time for using the pier (available 7.30am to 11pm). It’s a free service.

Coming Soon! The WestK Performing Arts Centre
There will soon be even more reason to get the ferry to WestK, with the upcoming opening of the WestK Performing Arts Centre. The venue will be home to three world-class dance and theatre performance spaces – a 1,450-seat Grand Theatre, a 600-seat Medium Theatre and a 270-seat Studio Theatre. It will also have rehearsal facilities, along with a Resident Company Centre – a development and collaboration hub for HK’s many dance companies and artists.
