Tanglin Trust School in Singapore is the oldest British international school in Southeast Asia, established a century ago in 1925. Today, the school delivers a British-based education to more than 2,850 students aged 3 to 18. As a not-for-profit institution, all tuition fees are directed towards the provision of outstanding education.
There’s much more to the school than its heritage, however. Here, the team from Tanglin highlights five things that showcase how the school blends tradition with innovation.
5 things about Tanglin Trust School

#1 The Institute at Tanglin
“The Institute at Tanglin is our award-winning centre for thought leadership and scholarship. Through lectures, workshops and partnerships, it encourages students of all ages to think critically about future trends, engage in global affairs and pursue entrepreneurial ambitions.
Tanglin is the only international school in Singapore with a dedicated forum of this kind. Its 16-week entrepreneurship programme develops future-ready skills, while its annual speaker series and workshops – featuring thought leaders from a variety of diverse sectors including finance, AI, geopolitics, sustainability, the arts, and robotics – encourage both staff and students to think critically and globally.”
#2 A new era for the arts – Junior Arts Centre
“This year, we opened our new Junior Arts Centre, a five-storey hub dedicated to creative learning. The new learning facility provides a vibrant space where creativity flourishes. Featuring music and art studios, performance spaces, a black box theatre, and the Junior library, it supports Tanglin’s philosophy that the arts are essential to a well-rounded education.”
#3 Beyond the classroom – Highlands Programme
“The new Tanglin Gippsland campus in Australia is home to the Year 9 Highlands Programme. This is a five-week residential experience combining outdoor education alongside experiential learning. Designed to build curiosity, confidence, and community, the programme also provides a digital detox, allowing students the chance to reflect, grow, and develop resilience – skills that will guide them throughout life. Tanglin is the only school in Singapore to offer a programme of this scope and length as a compulsory part of the curriculum.”
#4 World-class sporting facilities and coaching
“The opening of Tanglin’s Centenary Building in 2023 marked a significant milestone for Tanglin sport. The facility features an Olympic-standard Gymnastics Centre, a 50-metre covered Aquatic Centre, a high-performance Athletic Development Gym, and a state-of-the-art physiotherapy clinic.
Further enhancements in 2025 include a new golf practice facility, a refurbished playing field with a large LED scoreboard and a Junior School Athletic Development Gym, for younger students to develop strength, balance and coordination.

Tanglin’s thriving sports programme features 17 competitive sports, including swimming, gymnastics, rugby, football, touch, netball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, cricket and climbing.
Now in its third year, the Tanglin Lions IMPACT Programme was introduced to provide tailored support for students aiming to reach their potential. Key components include strength and conditioning training, fitness testing, nutrition and leadership development, injury management and elite athlete clinics. All these aspects are designed to help students achieve their potential.
#5 Academic excellence
“Not only does Tanglin Trust School offer one of the widest arrays of IGCSE subject choices in Singapore, it’s also the only international school in Singapore to offer A-Levels and IB at Sixth Form. This gives students choice and flexibility in shaping their academic pathways.
Our examination results consistently exceed global benchmarks, with 96 percent of graduates securing places at their first or second choice universities worldwide.”
